30th October Marks changes to harassment law.
The two key changes are:
- Sexual harassment: Employers must now take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment.
- Third-party harassment: Employers can now be liable for harassment of employees by third parties, including clients, contractors, visitors and members of the public. This protection extends beyond sexual harassment to harassment related to other protected characteristics.
For us, the most important thing is that everyone feels safe and respected at work, and that we all understand what is expected of us and what to do if something doesn’t feel right.
Please take five minutes to read our Sexual Harassment & Harassment and Bullying Policies. Our updated policies apply not only to how we treat one another, but also to those outside of Anstey Horne.
We’re also strengthening the practical steps we take to prevent harassment, and over the coming weeks, we aim to roll out the following;
- Additional training for managers and all staff;
- iHasco sexual harassment module for all staff;
- A review of reporting routes to ensure everyone knows how and where to raise a concern; and
- A review of our risk assessments, including risks arising through contact with third parties.
Above all, we want everyone to feel confident that concerns will be taken seriously and to recognise that we all have a part to play in maintaining a respectful workplace.
